H110 pro btc+

Right now we have a cryptocurrency mining boom and interest in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and other currencies is higher than ever. At Computex 2017 we learned that ASRock is launching a new motherboard with a mouth watering 13 PCIe slots. The ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ motherboard uses the Intel H110 chipset (6W TDP) for LGA1151 processors and should be a monster. We aren’t sure if this board comes with PCIe x1 to PCIe x16 riser cards, but we hope it does as those are getting tough to find and often some arrive DOA. If you put 13 AMD Radeon RX 480 video cards (150W TDP) into this beast you are looking at 1950W plus the board, CPU and other items that consume power. It looks like that 2200 Wattt Power supply we saw at Computex might actually be handy for boards like this. If you have 13 AMD Radeon RX 480/580 cards and have them optimized for mining with all the latest tweaks you are looking at roughly 27 MH/s per card on Ethereum mining, so a setup like that will give you roughly 350 MH/s. At current prices that will give you nearly $22,000 a year of profit$22,000 a year of profit from one board. The hard part will be finding 13 Radeon RX 400 or 500 series cards to buy to build one of these! This would make for one heck of a dedicated mining board and those mine cryptocurrencies should like it. We aren’t sure what the price will be or when it will arrive, but ASRock said it will be soon (update: first retail boards will be shipping in July 2017) . Hopefully it will arrive before the move to Proof of Stake really takes off!

Be sure to check out our article showing off the performance on over 15 GPUs when we were doing Ethereum mining to find the best GPU.

At Computex 2017 this machine was being shown off, but they only had 8 AMD Radeon RX 470 video cards in the demo unit. ASRock said that there is an 8 GPU limitation on Windows 10 on one OS install and that they are talking with AMD/Microsoft to see if that can be expanded. It looks like you’d have to run Linux to run this many cards on one system!

ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ Ethereum Mining Motherboard

STH was at Computex 2017 and while touring the Nangang 4F hall on three different days, there were two booths that had a substantial amount of traffic: ASRock and MSI. While many of the motherboard manufacturers were showing off X299 (Intel) and X399 (AMD) motherboards that drew crowds, ASRock and Biostar had rigs mining Ethereum and other altcoins that garnered large crowds. Perhaps the most interesting display was a 14x PCIe motherboard, the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ which was mining with 8x GPUs on the show floor and “earning” over $30/ day doing so.

What is Ethereum Mining and Common Architecture Goals

Ethereum is the number two (or three depending on the day) cryptocurrency at the time of this writing. While Bitcoin may be the best known, Ethereum has about half the market cap of Bitcoin and is seeing broad adoption. That makes the total value of outstanding Ethereum over $20B at the time this is being penned.

There are plenty of in-depth pieces out there on mining mechanics, but the easiest way of conceptualizing mining is being rewarded for providing some compute capacity for transaction processing. In return, one receives Ether which then can be traded for Bitcoin, traditional currencies, or goods/ services. Unlike Bitcoin where mining is dominated by ASICs, Ether can be mined efficiently using modern GPUs.

If you were to build a pure Ethereum mining rig you would essentially look to maximize raw performance per watt and performance per dollar invested. Mining on GPUs, unlike deep learning applications, works well even on PCIe x1 connectivity. CPU performance is relatively unimportant. That combination means that the ideal platform can support a large number of PCIe devices and utilize a low-cost consumer chipset / CPU. Here is an example of what a commercial data center mining operation looks like to give you a sense of the overall architecture:

As a result, many mining setups seek to maximize the number of PCIe x1 slots that can be found on a platform. Since the power used and therefore heat generated can be significant, utilizing cards with non-reference double width (or more) coolers is common. It is extremely popular to place GPUs on PCIe x1 risers and then mount the GPUs away from the motherboard.

ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ Ethereum Mining Motherboard

On the show floor, ASRock Rack had thirteen GPUs (8 connected) to its new ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ motherboard in an open frame rack with three FSP power supplies:

ASRock H110 Pro BTC Plus Full Setup

Here is the placard showing 3.2kW of PSUs which were more than the show floor was providing for the demo.

ASRock H110 Pro BTC Plus Demo Description

Perhaps the standout was the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ motherboard with 14x PCIe x1 slots:

ASRock H110 Pro BTC Plus PCIe Slots

The demo had eight GPUs running so there were eight PCIe x1 to x16 risers installed leaving six slots open. The PCIe x1 to USB to PCIe x16 riser assemblies are very popular with miners. The ASRock demo was using PCE164P-N03 risers which you can get on Amazon.

ASRock H110 Pro BTC Plus Risers

The demo was live on the show floor with 8x AMD RX 470 cards with a total of almost 180 Mh/s performance.

ASRock H110 Pro BTC Plus Ethereum Performance

For those wondering, that is approximately worth $30/ day at the time of this writing.

Final Words

While the H110 chipset may not be an enthusiast’s dream for gaming, the low-cost platform is ideal for these sorts of mining rigs. The overall cryptocurrency market has bubbled to being worth over $90B USD at the time of this writing which is more than three times the market cap of HP Enterprise. It makes sense that we are seeing more mining specific hardware as the currency values rise and the mining market grows.

The STH forums recently added a crypto mining subforum. We also have a number of Docker images for Monero/ Zcash mining on Linux clusters. Of course, we have been hard at work benchmarking hardware on common CPU/ GPU platforms.

Pros: Can't beat this board when it comes to having the pcie slots you need!

Cons: I don't like the LGA1151 socket, the pins they use are way more fragile than I expected and I killed the first one of these boards I got! I strongly recommend being extra careful if for some reason you need to change out the CPU for anything.

Pros: good stuff

Cons: 0

Pros: I like ASUS have several of there other boards

Cons: Don't really think this is the field for ASUS. Lots and lots of reviews on other website with folks having problems with this board, and lots of boards being delivered with bends in them. One guys even got four bent boards in a row.

Other Thoughts: I do not recommend this product

Pros: Multiple PCIe ports
Simple

Cons: Dead M2 port! Tried 1 tested M2 SSD with no use! I bought and M2 drive for it but now it is just sitting there.
PCIe ports too close to each other.

Other Thoughts: Have not tried adding more than 6 GPU's, The BIOS has 7 PCIe ports only that it can see, so I am not sure how I can add more than 7 GPU's.

Pros: Ease of setup
Onboard power and reset buttons
Works like a champ with no issues

Cons: For me. none really as I don't overload my systems with 13 GPUs because 'I can'.

Other Thoughts: I would, have and do recommend this board.
I will be buying more.

Pros: not working but it was working fine before

Cons: suddenly when I increase GPU stopped work. the same GPU is working after that in another motherboard " before that I have bought 5 of them from another site ASRock h110". the CPU fan spined once and after that nothing. try to contact customer service in new egg they told me no warranty for international buyer.

Pros: -easy to setup
-minimal setup in the BIOS
-I started mining immediatly with HiveOS and Simplemining
-Win10 works great with it

Cons: Non so far as I found.

Pros: Works great out of the box. Has a built in power button on Mobo. No changes needed to be made to the bios for mining. onboard video DVI, PS2 keyboard and mouse (nice to use old ps2 and not have to find a USB one) or USB. USB 2 and 3. 13 PCIe slots. Also, I like the PCIe power connectors on mobo. Manufacture website has really good info to help setup for mining.

Cons: wish onboard video was vga so can use old monitors because its just a miner. Also, the bios navigation is a little different. It took me a few minutes for figure out how to navigate and set AC Power to always turn on when power applied.

Other Thoughts: Some others say the PCIe are to close but the riser board with usb cable keeps them separated without issue. If you happen to get USB cables that are smaller like the batch I just got, the boards can touch in the slots but the only part that is touching is the grounding pins to the shield of the USB connector which is also ground. So, still not an issue. If want, wrap the small riser board with black electrical tape. I haven't had any short out and I have three of these running with GTX 1080 GPU's. All slots work without issues. Lots of people have said the boards have issues but I just think most people don't know how to handle the boards and are killing them with static shock from not using the proper grounding strap when handling. I have been in the computer business for over 25years and you always need to ground yourself before handling computer components. The small amount of electricity in you body will kill or damage electrical components. I watch youtube videos of people building rigs and I cringe on how they handle the components. I'm surprised anything works for them.

Repair the Yahoo Search App.

Yahoo Search App from the Google Play Store on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone stopped working on May 18, 2018.

I went to the Yahoo Troubleshooting page but the article that said to do a certain 8 steps to fix the problem with Yahoo Services not working and how to fix the problem. Of course they didn't work.

I contacted Samsung thru their Samsung Tutor app on my phone. I gave their Technican access to my phone to see if there was a problem with my phone that stopped the Yahoo Search App from working. He went to Yahoo and I signed in so he could try to fix the Yahoo Search App not working. He also used another phone, installed the app from the Google Play Store to see if the app would do any kind of search thru the app. The Yahoo Search App just wasn't working.

I also had At&t try to help me because I have UVERSE for my internet service. My internet was working perfectly. Their Technical Support team member checked the Yahoo Search App and it wouldn't work for him either.

We can go to www.yahoo.com and search for any topic or website. It's just the Yahoo Search App that won't allow anyone to do web searches at all.

I let Google know that the Yahoo Search App installed from their Google Play Store had completely stopped working on May 18, 2018.

I told them that Yahoo has made sure that their Yahoo members can't contact them about anything.

I noticed that right after I accepted the agreement that said Oath had joined with Verizon I started having the problem with the Yahoo Search App.
No matter what I search for or website thru the Yahoo Search App it says the following after I searched for
www.att.com.

WEBPAGE NOT AVAILABLE

net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

I tried to search for things like www.homedepot.com. The same thing happened. It would say WEBPAGE NOT AVAILABLE. The only thing that changed were all the upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.
Then it would again say
could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

This is the same thing that happened when Samsung and At&t tried to do any kind of searches thru the Yahoo Search App.

Yahoo needs to fix the problem with their app.

AsRock H110 Pro BTC+ Mining Motherboard with 13 PCI-E Slots

If you thought AsRock is getting behind in the game lately as far as GPU crypto mining motherboards go, well thing again… even though they haven’t had a new Pro BTC motherboard since the H81 Pro BTC they are not sleeping apparently and the recent shortages of that particular and popular model. At Computex 2017 the company has showcased an upcoming product that has caught the attention of the mining community, a motherboard with 13 PCI-Express slots for up to 13 video cards, connected via PCI-E extenders of course as the slots are pretty tightly fitted on the motherboard to retain a standard size.

The new motherboard is called Asrock H110 Pro BTC+ and is soon-to-be-launched (no exact launch date given yet)… it even has an M.2 slot onboard, though 14th card via M.2 to PCIe might be a bit too much to expect to work, but who knows. Other than the new chipset and the staggering 13 PCIe slots, the new motherboard seems to follow the design of the previous generation of Pro BTC boards, simplistic and cost effective. Of course the H110 chipset means that you would need to go to the newer Socket 1151 CPUs such as the Intel G3900 series of processors as well as the newer DDR4 memory.

We’ll probably have to wait a bit more for additional details such as the full specifications, pricing as well as release date and availability. You can expect the demand to be pretty high though, even considering that the demonstrated solution during Computex in Taipei, Taiwan apparently used Windows and had only 8 GPUs running (based on the available information), but all 13 should be available for use when the new motherboard hits the market hopefully soon (not yet sure if they will work under Windows though).

Trying Out the AsRock H110 Pro BTC+ With 13x GTX 1070

We have been playing around with the AsRock H110 Pro BTC+ motherboard for crypto mining with support for up to 13x GPUs and we can already share some feedback based on our experience with it. So far we have tried running the motherboard with thirteen Nvidia GPUs of the same model – namely GeForce GTX 1070 under Windows and Linux. AsRock recommends that you use a mixed combination of 8 + 5 GPUs under Windows and we can confirm that we were not able to make more than 8x GTX 1070 GPUs work properly under Windows. Adding a 9th or more video cards makes Windows unstable and even if the driver gets properly installed as soon as we run a miner the system freezes, running multiple instances of miners on just a few cards each does not help. With Linux-based mining distributions however we had no trouble running the motherboard just fine with all 13x Nvidia GPUs out of the box.

Running 13x GPUs on a single motherboard brings up a lot of potential problems with you connecting everything up and making it work. It does require more space than a regular rig designed for just 6 to 8 GPUs, even though we actually managed for squeeze 12x GTX 1070 GPUs in such a rig for the sake of testing only, the last card was a bit too much however, so it remained on the top of the frame. Again this setup was just for testing things up and not for a production mining rig that will run 24/7, so make sure you have a larger frame for 13x GPUs when using the AsRock H110 Pro BTC+ motherboard.

AS expected the power supply is one of the biggest issues with 13x GPU mining rig and more specifically the number of available connectors that are needed to provide power to the GPUs and the PCI-E extenders. We have used a 2000W Leadex power supply that has plenty of connectors and even then they were not enough for all the GPUs. 12 of the GTX 1070 cards were with a single 8-pin PCI-E power and only the 13th was with a single 8-pin and 6-pin power connector…

Even the 2000W Leadex PSU does not have that many 8-pin PCI-E power connectors, not to mention the need of SATA/Molex power connectors for the extenders per power line to be on the safe side. You are looking at minimum two power supplies with enough power connectors and try to avoid using power splitting cables, apart from maybe a second 12V CPU line that can be safely used for provide one or two extra PCI-E power connectors (depending on the PSU). Going for video cards that have two PCI-E power connectors or need more than about 150W of power is not a wise thing for this motherboard as things will get even more complicated.

There were some concerns regarding the PCI-E connectors on the motherboard placed too close to each other and possibly shorting when you insert the PCI-E extenders in them. It seems however that this is actually not an issue, even with connectors being dangerously close and pushing them by hand they are still not shorting – the USB connectors are saving the day by touching each other and preventing shorts. Still with the varying type and size of USB cables used with PCI-E extenders it will still be wise to put some insulation tape on the back of the small PCI-E boards that go into the PCI-E slots just to be on the safe side.

AsRock H110 Pro BTC+ comes pre-configured in the BIOS and is ready to start mining without any additional changes needed from the users. Of course you might still want to enable the automatic Power On function after power loss for example and do some minor tweaks yourself, but even if you just install the GPUs and turn on the power it should work out of the box. This is really important thing for mining motherboards to make the life of miners easier and not to have them go through many settings and change them in order to make thing work properly for more GPUs.

As already mentioned we were not able to get more than 8x Nvidia GTX 1070 GPUs work properly under Windows and at the same time we did not have any trouble with some Linux-based mining distributions we have tried. So 8 + 5 GPUs of different kinds (Nvidia/AMD) under Windows, but no 13x of the same kind seems to be possible for the moment, at least not out of the box and with any of the tweaks we have tried to make things work. With Linux no problems with just 6 or 8 or the full house with 13x GPUs, all worked just fine and mined without problems. You can try the KopiemTu Linux mining distribution, or the more recent nvOC distribution. While for Linux-based 13x AMD GPU mining rigs you might want to try the ethOS Mining OS or the more recent rxOC distribution.

We are yet to try using the AsRock H110 Pro BTC+ motherboard With 13x AMD GPUs, but we are expecting to see the same problem under Windows as with the Nvidia GPUs and a problem free experience when using a Linux-based mining distribution or if you manage to install Linux yourself and make it usable for mining (this usually requires more advanced users). While a mixed setup of AMD and Nvidia GPUS user Windows may seem like an interesting idea we are not that much fans of such setups as in our opinion they are more prone to potential problems. Still feel free to experiment and try it out yourselves even with a mixed setup of GPUs if you insist on staying on Windows and using 13x GPUs.

The use of the AsRock H110 Pro BTC+ crypto mining motherboard seems to present more challenges and with the shortages of GPUs and other hardware it can be even more difficult to build properly a 13x GPU mining rig. Still it offers an interesting opportunity for miners that are building AMD Ethereum mining rigs or Nvidia ones with the mid-range cards such as GTX 1060 or GTX 1070. The only problem at the moment with this particular motherboard is that it is nowhere to be found at the recommended prices and at the places you can buy it is at speculative price that is pretty much double than what it should normally cost. The speculative high price can be a deal breaker as well for many users that are considering using this motherboard for 13x GPU mining rigs.

Seems like some of these newer boards are sort of a joke. Please consider testing more of the newer ‘BTC’ boards. I recently bought a TB350, which you would think works out of the box with a full six GPUs, but it doesn’t. Lots of tweaking and can’t get the sixth Nvidia GPU stable on it. From what I’ve read AMD works fine, but I’ve heard nothing about Nvidia except my own personal experience.

Silly to buy a board meant for mining and end up with the same problems as normal boards.

It seems that Biostar hasn’t quite caught up to what a motherboard intended for crypto mining should be… like what AsRock does with their Pro BTC motherboards.

Better than Kopiemtu, Simplemining offers recently an Nvidia (beta) version

If you need Windows for mining, maybe check VGAPassthrough?
You could probably make a couple of Windows virtual machines and expose limited number of GPU to any single OS.
Of course, you should have as many Windows licenses as virtual machines that you run simultaneously. :)
And it might be too difficult for typical miner.

Yeah, I agree about Asrock being a little bit more mature then Biostar. They don’t offer a AM4 socket yet though for Cryptomining and just randomly buying one of their AM4 boards is a good way to end up in the scenario I’m in where that sixth GPU wont work properly.

AM4 is not yet ready for its use in crypto mining rigs, it is not the motherboard (maybe) it is the CPUs… Ryzen 5 and 7 are just too expensive to be used for mining rigs compared to the cheap Intel Celerons. AMD needs to release cheaper AM4 APUs and that might spark some interest in using AM4 motherboards, not only models meant for crypto mining, but for the moment the expensive AM4 CPUs are a real deal breaker.

I’m not using them for common rigs, putting aside using the extra partitioned cores (affinity) for mining a currency such as Monero, I use them for servers and PoS in addition to doing GPU mining on the side. It’s not a normal every day buy.

You can’t beat Ryzens for the price when you need CPU power.

In this case it makes sense to go for Ryzen, but most miners building GPU mining rigs don’t need CPU power and the Ryzen 5/7 available currently options are not interesting for them.

I needed to replace motherboard so bought one of these as opposed to sourcing a 6 GPU rig. I have only used Windows and AMD GPUs, at least so far. I was going to see if I can use two frames kind of back to back and stick with the low power RX400 series miners. I only have 8 of those now though. So I’ll see if I can get them to work and then maybe buy an Nvidia, of which I know nothing. Does Nvidia have a line of lower power miners similar to the AMD RX series?

While it’s great, that there are some Linux OS derivates supporting 13 GPU rigs, which miners support them? Claymore supports just up to 10. Is there any mining software supporting 13 GPU rigs without users having to rely upon multiple instances of the software?

have 6 rx 560 and 7 rx 460. I have had noting but trouble. Ive tested every port and every single card separately to rule out bad risers, usb etc. They all work individualy, but put them in and I have some power up, some dont some crash windows.

At present the best I got was all 13 for a stunning 5 seconds and then BSOD.

Just got 5 windforce 1070 for asrock 110. Trying to install driver but it can not detect NVIDIAs. Do you have some tips that I could try?

Try first with just 1 card connected directly to the motherboard, not via an extender.

How many hashrate you were able to do so far?

I’m extremely impressed that you could get 13 1070s running on this in Ubuntu 16.04. I’ve had nothing but problems.

1) Very hard to get the cards recognised. A lot of plugging, unpluggin, and plugging back in of riser cables before it would see all of my cards
2) Serious problems with broadcast storms which would take out my network. I’m using a wi-fi access point with 3 other rigs, wi-fied to my main router. Any time I start mining with the H110 it would kill the connection between the access point and my main router.

I’m still trying to find a way around this. Other people have had similar issues so I know I’m not mad see https://www.reddit.com/r/EtherMining/comments/6xkau1/simplemining_os_with_5_or_6_gtx_1070s_makes/

Hope I don’t have to shift to Windows 10 (extra expense and super painful)

I’m using Xubuntu 16.04.3, but I’m a novice when it comes to Linux. I’d prefer to stay with Ubuntu, but my lack of experience has caused a few problems. When I put in more than 6 cards I lose the GUI and I have to go into a command line interface by holding down the shift key on booting. Is there any way around this problem and/or Do I need a different version of Ubuntu?

Great power management and plug in go features

This board comes with all the latest configuration settings. As rock is a solid brand name and I always look for it. This board is currently supporting 4 rx 580s that I mine using claymore with Ethereum. No issues at all. It is a bit annoying to have to plug in two mole connections to support more than 3 slots but I can get over that.

13. then 12. now 10.

The PCIe ports are so close together it gives you problems with shorting out. Filled down the tits on the solder joints and used index cards as spacers and it worked. for half a day. I had one port go out and then hours later another. I have had this one running for about 36 hours and its lost 2 ports, I have done extensive troubleshooting to determine it is in fact the board. This will be the last one I buy.

In the search for Anaïs Nin, one of the first few links shows a picture of a man. Why? Since Nin is a woman, I can’t figure out why. Can you show some reason for this? Who is he? If you click on the picture a group of pictures of Nin and no mention of that man. Is it an error?

This webpage at gttp://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geJGq8BbkrgALEMMITE5jylu=X3oDMTEzcTjdWsyBGNvbG8DYmyxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDTkFQUEMwxzEEc2VjA3NylRo=10/Ru=https%3a%2f%2fwww.att.att.com%2f/Rk=2/Es=plkGNRAB61_XKqFjTEN7J8cXA-
could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

I tried to search for things like www.homedepot.com. The same thing happened. It would say WEBPAGE NOT AVAILABLE. The only thing that changed were all the upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.
Then it would again say
could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

This is the same thing that happened when Samsung and At&t tried to do any kind of searches thru the Yahoo Search App.

Yahoo needs to fix the problem with their app.
