Den oprindelige pris på 1 Bitcoin i 2010 var blot 1 cent (USD). Prisen var den 8. december 2017 oppe at runde de $18.000 (ca. 118.000 danske kroner) for en enkelt bitcoin. Bitcoin er tidligere kendt som den virtuelle valuta for de kriminelle, men er blevet mere anerkendt i de sidste par år.
Hvad er Bitcoin?
Bitcoin er en kryptovaluta, altså en virtuel valuta som ikke kan holdes i hånden, men nemt overføres til andre. Bitcoin er ikke accepteret i ret mange butikker og har heller ikke ingen regering bag sig. Det hele foregår via software online som giver dig en digital "bank" adresse og holder styr på dine transaktioner med "blockchain" teknologien.
Hvor kommer Bitcoin fra?
Den originale software blev lagt ud på nettet i 2008 af en person under dæknavnet "Satoshi Nakamoto". Du kan læse den oprindelige beskrivelse (engelsk) af systemet, for at få indblik i hvorfor Bitcoin er blevet opfundet. Digitale valutaer har længe været brugt i f.eks. spil, men Bitcoin's primus motor er blockchain teknologien som holder styr på transaktionerne.
Hvordan virker Bitcoins?
Forestil dig at du laver en overførsel via din egen netbank. Din bank verificerer at du har penge nok på kontoen, trækker det fra i en gigantisk database og sender pengene videre til en anden bank. Du stoler altså 100% på at din bank laver overførslen korrekt. Bitcoin og blockchain teknologien fungerer uden en bank og en myndighed såsom den danske stat.
Hvem styrer din konto?
Hver eneste bitcoin transaktion bliver verificeret af et decentraliseret netværk, det såkaldte "blockchain" netværk. Køb og salg af Bitcoins sker via tjenester som tilbyder elektroniske tegnebøger, som verificeres i det globale netværk. Nye bitcoin transaktioner bliver samlet og sendt på en gang til netværket og bliver sikkert tjekket.
Hvordan laver man Bitcoins?
Alle kan i bund og grund lave Bitcoins, men det kræver en kraftig computer og en masse elektricitet for at lave de mange udregninger. Bitcoin (Übersicht)
Bitcoin is the first successful internet money based on peer-to-peer technology; whereby no central bank or authority is involved in the transaction and production of the Bitcoin currency. It was created by an anonymous individual/group under the name, Satoshi Nakamoto. The source code is available publicly as an open source project, anybody can look at it and be part of the developmental process.
Bitcoin is changing the way we see money as we speak. It is a decentralized peer-to-peer internet currency making mobile payment easy, very low transaction fees, protects your identity, and it works anywhere all the time with no banking hours.
As of the current design, there will only be 21 million Bitcoin ever created, thus making it a deflationary currency unlike fiat currencies. Bitcoin uses the SHA-256 hashing algorithm with an average transaction confirmation time of 10 minutes. Miners today are mining Bitcoin using ASIC chip dedicated to only mining Bitcoin, and the hash rate has shot up to peta hashes.
Being the first successful online cryptography currency, Bitcoin has inspired other alternative currencies such as Litecoin, Peercoin, Primecoin, and so on.

2009-2012 - The Early Days
When Satoshi released the software in January 2009 there was no Bitcoin price because there was no Bitcoin value since it could not be used for anything. As found in The Book of Satoshi on Aug. 27, 2010 he proposed:
As a thought experiment, imagine there was a base metal as scarce as gold but with the following properties:
- boring grey in colour
- not a good conductor of electricity
- not particularly strong, but not ductile or easily malleable either
- not useful for any practical or ornamental purpose and one special, magical property:
- can be transported over a communications channel
If it somehow acquired any value at all for whatever reason, then anyone wanting to transfer wealth over a long distance could buy some, transmit it, and have the recipient sell it.
Maybe it could get an initial value circularly as you’ve suggested, by people foreseeing its potential usefulness for exchange. (I would definitely want some) Maybe collectors, any random reason could spark it.
After a couple years the value of Bitcoin increased as bitcoins traded for about $0.30 on January 1, 2011, went to $31.50 about six months later and ended the year at $4.25. 2012 proved to be a less volatile year with the Bitcoin price staying under $15.
2013 - The Insane Bitcoin Price | Bitcoin's Value Increases
But 2013 is a year to remember in Bitcoin since the Bitcoin value increased with use cases and innovation. The Bitcoin price started January around $13.25, hit $266 in April, crashed to $50 a week later, consolidated for about six months and then after the United States Senate hearings on Bitcoin launched to the moon and briefly reached $1,240 before ending the year at around $800.
2014 - The Long Grind
2014 saw this downtrend and consolidation continue with the Bitcoin price and ended around $325. This was primarily a year of making Bitcoin easier to use with infrastructure being built with more than $300 million of venture capital investment being announced to build out Bitcoin value and usefulness. Additionally, there appeared to be a bubble with mining equipment that got corrected.
2015 - Continued Building
2015 has seen a fairly stable Bitcoin price but what is really exciting is that in the first quarter over $175 million of venture capital investment was announced. Just like the Internet's value in 1994 was difficult to use and required substantial venture capital investment to be made useful so likewise is the Bitcoin value, usefulness and utility currently being built out.
Conclusion
The lesson may be to never invest more than you are willing to lose. The Bitcoin price is highly volatile, may not be related to the underlying Bitcoin value and the highly promising blockchain technology that for the first time in history enables distributed consensus, triple-entry bookkeeping and programmable trust by being able to transfer value over a communications channel is still being proven.
However, it may be wise to take Satoshi's advice to buy Bitcoin, even just a little, just in case it becomes something of extreme usefulness. Plus, developing the technical literacy to do so is valuable. There was a time when everyone had to learn how to send an email.

Bitcoin Smart Banknotes Launched in Singapore
A digital asset smart banknote manufacturer has launched bitcoin banknotes at a store in Singapore. Designed to make owning and circulating cryptocurrencies as easy as using paper money, they are currently available in denominations of 0.01 and 0.05 BTC.

Digital asset banknote manufacturer Tangem announced the launch of smart bitcoin banknotes at the Megafash Suntec City store in Singapore on Thursday.

The announcement states:
Available immediately in denominations of 0.01 and 0.05 BTC, Tangem Notes radically improve the simplicity and security of acquiring, owning, and circulating cryptocurrencies for both sophisticated and incoming users.
With headquarters in Switzerland’s cryptovalley Zug and Hong Kong, Tangem also has offices in Singapore, Moscow, and China, according to its website.
The company says it “is delivering the first shipment of 10,000 production notes to prospective partners and distributors around the world for commercial pilots.”
How Tangem’s Smart Banknotes Work
Tangem explains that their bitcoin smart banknotes are “Comparable to a well-protected paper banknote” and “Cheap enough to hand over.” Citing their ease of use, the company says there is “No special infrastructure, no complicated applications – just touch the banknote with an NFC-capable smartphone to be 100% sure it has valid assets.”

Transferring ownership of the notes is anonymous and instant, Tangem claims. “Physically hand over the whole wallet together with the blockchain private key. No transaction fees, no need to await confirmation blockchain.” Moreover, the company says that its banknotes are equipped with “high-grade EAL6+ protection for all cryptocurrencies. Irretrievable private keys prohibit replication of wallet and its assets.”
Competitor Opendime has long offered a physical product with a similar purpose but shaped more like a USB thumb drive and without any amount printed on them.
Security Questions
Tangem’s hardware is based on Samsung Semiconductor’s S3D350A chip. The company claims to offer “the first hardware storage solution on the market with its entire electronics and cryptography certified to the Common Criteria EAL6+ and EMVCo security standards.”
As with any embedded firmware-based product in the cryptocurrency space, security audits and open-source code are paramount to earning users’ trust to ensure that the company does not have access to the funds stored on their product. At the time of this writing, Tangem’s only publicly available code is for its iOS and Android apps on Github.
However, the company claims that it has shared the full source code of its proprietary chip firmware with a Swiss security firm, Kudelski Group, adding that this firm has completed an in-depth review and comprehensive security audit of its product’s architecture.

Yahoo Search App from the Google Play Store on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone stopped working on May 18, 2018.
I went to the Yahoo Troubleshooting page but the article that said to do a certain 8 steps to fix the problem with Yahoo Services not working and how to fix the problem. Of course they didn't work.
I contacted Samsung thru their Samsung Tutor app on my phone. I gave their Technican access to my phone to see if there was a problem with my phone that stopped the Yahoo Search App from working. He went to Yahoo and I signed in so he could try to fix the Yahoo Search App not working. He also used another phone, installed the app from the Google Play Store to see if the app would do any kind of search thru the app. The Yahoo Search App just wasn't working.
I also had At&t try to help me because I have UVERSE for my internet service. My internet was working perfectly. Their Technical Support team member checked the Yahoo Search App and it wouldn't work for him either.
We can go to www.yahoo.com and search for any topic or website. It's just the Yahoo Search App that won't allow anyone to do web searches at all.
I let Google know that the Yahoo Search App installed from their Google Play Store had completely stopped working on May 18, 2018.
I told them that Yahoo has made sure that their Yahoo members can't contact them about anything.
I noticed that right after I accepted the agreement that said Oath had joined with Verizon I started having the problem with the Yahoo Search App.
No matter what I search for or website thru the Yahoo Search App it says the following after I searched for

I tried to search for things like www.homedepot.com. The same thing happened. It would say WEBPAGE NOT AVAILABLE. The only thing that changed were all the upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.
Then it would again say

Bitcoin – en kryptovaluta i høj kurs
Se godt på ovenstående infografik. Det er nemlig den, som det skal handle om nu, og hvad de forskellige tal egentlig betyder. Hvis vi siger, at de overordnet hentyder til bitcoin og bitcoin kurs, har vi ikke sagt for meget. Nej vent, vi må hellere begynde helt forfra.
Du kan ikke sige bitcoin uden samtidig at sige bitcoin kurs…
…og det er lige netop den, infografikken viser i øverste venstre hjørne. Med småt kan du så se, hvad du skal hive op af lommen, hvis du skal købe 100 bitcoin. Det siger lidt om, at kursen på bitcoin er på himmelflugt. 1. januar 2017 var det tal nemlig på 963,66 USD.
Du kan ikke sige bitcoin og bitcoin kurs uden samtidig at sige energiforbrug…
… og det viser tallet øverst længst til højre. Okay, nu sidder du måske og spørger dig selv, hvad bitcoin, bitcoin kurs og energiforbrug har med hinanden at gøre. Det er et ganske udmærket spørgsmål.
Bitcoin, køb, salg og cirkulation er ikke centralt styret af banker, som vi kender det med fysiske mønter og sedler. Den funktion, som bankerne havde i gamle dage og stadigvæk har er at afhjælpe “the double-spending problem”. De skal altså afhjælpe, at de samme penge bliver brugt to gange. Hvordan gør man sådan noget, når det handler om bitcoin?
Den udfordring går egentlig på to ben.
Double spending og konsensus
- The double-spending problem.
- Problemet om konsensus. Alle i blockchain skal være sikre på, at hver enkelt transaktion er unik.
Satoshi Nakamoto løste pkt. 1 ved at lægge alle transaktioner ud – naturligvis i anonymiseret form. Alle deltagere – nodes – i blockchain kan altså se, hvilke køb og salg der er foretaget, inden de selv foretager sig noget.
Pkt. 2 blev løst ved hjælp af en time stamp server. Et lille stykke kode bliver altså stemplet med en kode – en tidskode, som pr. definition er unik. De forskellige tidspunkter kommer jo aldrig igen.
Så har vi teknikken på plads – eller har vi? Vi har jo ikke sikret os imod bedragere endnu. I et peer-to-peer-netværk (P2P), hvor der ikke er nogen overmyndighed, er det relativt nemt at snyde. Bortset fra at blockchain bygger på en proof-of-work-algoritme, hvor den længste kæde er den, som man har mest tillid til. For at finde ud af, om en kæde er den rigtige, må en computer scanne hele kæden.
En bedrager skal altså scanne hele kæden for at kunne føre den i en anden retning. Hvis du kigger på ovenstående infografik, vil du se, at der hele tiden bliver sendt og modtaget bitcoins. Blockchain bliver altså også længere og længere – alle transaktioner er jo synlige for alle – og derfor bliver det også sværere og sværere at snyde og bedrage. Ja, det bliver efterhånden umuligt, for det kræver mere og mere energi – mere og mere kraft fra en masse CPU’er, og så meget kraft er der ingen, der har mere.
Det er netop det tal, som vises i infografikken øverst til højre under “Network power consumption”.
Okay, der bruges meget energi, når vi taler bitcoin, fordi der bruges meget CPU-kraft på hver transaktion. Det er dog også et sikkert system. Satoshi Nakamoto kunne have valgt at bygge blockchain op omkring et princip om én IP-adresse, én stemme. Det er dog ikke så sikkert et system, fordi man sagtens kan skaffe sig adgang til flere IP-adresser. Satoshi Nakamoto valgte derfor princippet om én CPU, én stemme af sikkerhedshensyn.
Du kan ikke sige bitcoin og bitcoin kurs uden samtidig tænke over, hvad værdien af bitcoins ville svare til i USD…
…fordi det er noget, som alle sammenligner med hele tiden. I infografikken øverst kan du derfor se værdien af de bitcoins, der bliver sendt omregnet til USD, i nederste venstre hjørne Den siger noget om, hvor populær kryptovalutaen bitcoin er blevet – værdien stiger hele tiden. Værdien i USD siger også noget om, at kryptovalutaen bitcoin er i høj kurs også i store lande som Rusland og Kina.
Hvis du undrer dig over, at der står “Estimated money sent”, skal du huske på, at al handel med bitcoin foregår P2P – at der er ikke er nogen centrale myndigheder, der regulerer markedet.

…for kursen på bitcoin er som så meget andet bestemt af udbud og efterspørgsel. Det maksimale udbud af bitcoin er forudbestemt til 21.000.000. Nu sidder du måske og undrer dig over infografikkens fjerde og sidste faktor i nederste højre hjørne. Det behøver du ikke, for alle bitcoins er endnu ikke i cirkulation.
Her kommer begrebet “minere” eller “miners” ind i billedet. De kan nemlig være med til at bestemme udbuddet af bitcoin. Det kan de, fordi de konkurrerer om at løse såkaldte “crypto puzzles”.
Miners er et meget omdiskuteret begreb, når vi taler bitcoin og kryptovaluta, fordi der på det sidste har været tendens til monopollignende tilstande.
Jamen var Satoshi Nakamotos tanke ikke at skabe et decentralt system?
Jo, det har du fuldstændig ret i, og det er netop det kritikken har gået på. En bagside af princippet om én CPU, én stemme er nemlig, at har man meget CPU-kraft, har man også meget magt. Med andre ord har der været en tendens til, at en lille kreds af minere sidder med meget magt.
En mulighed for at komme problemet til livs er proof-of-stake, hvor minerne får magt, alt efter hvor meget de har på spil – hvor mange bitcoin de ejer. Her kan monopol dog heller ikke udelukkes.
En anden – og mere lovende mulighed – er bitcoin gold. Den er mere lovende, fordi vi nærmer os Satoshi Nakamotos drøm om én CPU, én stemme. Problemet ligger nemlig ikke i proof-of-work-algoritmen. Det ligger i roden til blockchain – SHA-256 – og det faktum, at der er udviklet specialiseret ASIC-udstyr til at mine på netop den rod – eller det hash, som det hedder.
Nu hedder hashet “Equihash”, og det er udviklet som en sidegren – eller “fork’’ – til den originale blockchain. Alle har altså stadig adgang til at se alle tidligere transaktioner i anonymiseret form, og samtidig får flere igen mulighed for at være minere. På Equihash kræves nemlig ikke specialudstyr. Vi kommer altså igen tættere på Satoshi Nakamotos drøm om et decentralt system og hans princip om én CPU, én stemme.
Du kan ikke sige bitcoin og bitcoin kurs uden samtidig at udsætte dig selv for kritik…
…for sådan er det, når noget er nyt, og flertallet ikke ved, hvad de snakker om. Du har sikkert også hørt, at flere af de store banker – nationalt og internationalt – ikke vil røre ved bitcoin. De tør ikke. De mener, at det er for usikkert og taler ligefrem om en bobbel.
Pudsigt nok er det sikkerheden, som bitcoin-entusiaster roser mest, og fordelene kan overordnet deles i to grupper:
Fordele forbundet med møntfoden selv
- Du kender det maksimale udbud af bitcoin allerede nu. Det samlede udbud af bitcoin er som nævnt 21.000.000. Når vi kan sige det så nøjagtigt, skyldes det, at det simpelthen står i koden, der ligger bag bitcoin, bitcoin kurs og blockchain. Det er altså muligt at forudsige med stor sikkerhed, hvordan den fremtidige udvikling bliver, når vi taler udbud.
- Du stifter ikke gæld, når du sender og modtager bitcoin . Det gør du, når du stifter gæld i banken på gammeldags facon.
Fordele forbundet med transaktioner:
- Du sender bitcoins under pseudonym , og dine transaktioner kan ikke spores tilbage til dig.
- Du kan sende og modtage bitcoin hurtigt og globalt og være en del af blockchain overalt i verden. Om du sender bitcoin til din nabo eller til USA er ligegyldigt.
- Du skal ikke spørge om tilladelse til at downloade den software , som gør det muligt at blive en del af blockchain. Når du har installeret softwaren, kan du bare gå i gang.
- Du er i sikkerhed , for sikkerheden omkring bitcoin er baseret på kryptografi – matematik – og altså ikke menneskelig indblanding. Det betyder, at kryptografien sikrer, at ingen udover dig selv har adgang til din beholdning af bitcoins. Her skal du bruge din såkaldte private key for at få adgang. Når du skal sende bitcoins, skal du nemlig både bruge en public key, som alle har adgang til, og en private key, som du er den eneste, der har adgang til.
Okay, kritikerne kan så holde sig til, at når du overfører bitcoins, kan du ikke føre dem tilbage. Det er kun dig selv, der styrer køb og salg, og sikkerhedsnettet er derfor beskedent.
Som du lige har set opvejer fordelene dog langt ulemperne. Desuden har de forskellige nodes i blockchain bevist, at de kan regulere sig selv. Bare tænk på introduktionen af bitcoin gold, da en lille lukket forsamling af minere fik for meget magt over SHA-256.

Der findes flere forskellige typer bitcoin wallets. Hvad du skal vælge, afhænger selvfølgelig af, hvad du skal bruge en bitcoin wallet til.
Når vi taler sikkerhed, er vores klare anbefaling, at du vælger en hardware wallet. Her er du nemlig sikker på, at den ikke kommer i kontakt med software – software som kan blive inficeret af virus. Den allerbedste løsning vil dog være en kombination af en hardware wallet og en software wallet. Den første egner sig bedst til at opbevare store beløb, men er ikke så nem at transportere. Den anden er omvendt nem at transportere, men bør ikke indeholde så store beløb på grund af faren for virus.
