The BTC Guild Bitcoin Mining Pool is Closing Down on June 30th
It seems that one of the earlier large Bitcoin mining pools that was trusted by many home miners over the last few years is going to be closing down at the end of this month. BTC Guild will be shutting down its mining servers on June 30th, 2015 at 23:59 UTC. Users will still be able to log in and retrieve their history and request withdrawals until September 30, 2015. According to Eleuthria, the pool operator, the main reason for making this decision was one one side the high costs for operating the pool as well as the recently finalized NYDFS BitLicense regulations that can put BTC Guild at risk. The pool will be closing down for sure and it is not going to be available for sale to another operator due to concern over user privacy and security.
This is sad new for many people that have used BTC Guild over the years and still continue to mine at their favorite and trustworthy pool. Unfortunately with more and more mining power getting focused in large industrial mining farms mostly in Asia things are not going to get better for other pools such as BTC Guild where mostly small home-based miners gather. This is also the reason while the percentage of the Bitcoin network total hashrate in pools like BTC Guild (only about 3% currently) has been steadily decreasing. In its prime time BTC Guild has managed to reach about 40% of the total network hashrate back in 2013, but now things are looking quite different and unfortunately not much in faour for the small home miners.
BTC Guild Could Be Shutting Down, Getting Sold or Not
After the closure of ScryptGuild Scrypt mining pool earlier this year, BTC Guild – one of the large Bitcoin mining pools was apparently facing the possibility of getting shut down. The creator and operator of the BTC Guild mining pool has announced that the two main reasons for deciding to close the pool are the increase of attempts to hack the service (though it never has been hacked) and the new regulations that the US government is pushing for the Bitcoin related businesses. To read the official announcement posted on Bitcointalk about the closure of the pool. Eleuthria, the owner and operator of the BTC Guild, has however since announced that there is significant interest from multiple parties to purchase the pool, so the ownership of the pool could change and it may continue to operate under different management. Today however some more good news were announced – apparently we are not going to be loosing the BTC Guild pool, a service many of us have been using for years mining Bitcoins, and it is most likely not going to be sold either, but will continue to operate. Here is the latest post regarding the situation from Eleuthria:
A brief update on the weekend’s events: BTC Guild is not closing down in the near future. BTC Guild is not being sold in the near future. I am beginning to go over options with some colleagues in other countries and lawyers to consider moving BTC Guild to another country. This may involve taking on a partner, but I would maintain the primary role in the management and operations of the pool itself. More on this will be made available as it develops.
That process will be the answer to the concern over regulation. The second part, the concern about the cost of a successful compromise of the pool, is something I am working on addressing. I have already made some changes to the pool hot wallet to significantly decrease the amount of funds kept online. It will mean failed withdrawals may happen more frequently (we haven’t had that happen in many months), though it is preferable to have a few withdrawals delayed for 12-24 hours than have the site shut down due to a compromise.
I am also exploring ways that the pool could make a transition to coinbase payments to further reduce the amount of funds at risk at any given time. This probably won’t happen for a few months, if it happens at all.
ScryptGuild Mining Pool is Going to be Shutting Down in September
The ScryptGuild Scrypt mining multipool has announced that they are going to be shutting down on September 27, 2014. However the mining servers will halt in 2 weeks, which is August 10th. Users will have until September 20th to withdraw their balances before the coin daemons and wallets are taken offline. The information about ScryptGuild shutting down is apparently not directly related to the New York Bitcoin Regulations that are currently in the works, however there is information that the BTC Guild mining pool might also be closed down if these regulations are approved in their current form.
Under the current proposals (subject to public comment and revision), operating a pool within the US will be impossible to do legally without obtaining significant personal information on ALL users, not just those in the US. There would also be significant financial costs which would exceed the amount of money the pool has generated since inception. Since there is no way anybody will mine on a pool with those requirements, it means that any pool in the US will be forced to shut down, or operate illegally and hope they’re ignored.
If the regulations are finalized (this is unlikely to happen for at least 3-4 months if not more) in a form that still applies to pools, the pool will be forced to shutdown. This news post is being made as notice that this is an exception to the stated 3-month closure window identified in our FAQ and the forum thread. If the regulations pass, the 3-month window will be reduced to 45 days due to legal requirement to cease operations prior to the regulations taking effect.

BTC Guild
A DDoS attack targetted the pool earlier this week. With quick reactions and some preplanning for new attacks, the pool only lost
20% of its speed for an hour, and was almost back to full speed in less than 3 hours.
If you've been a long term user of BTC Guild, contact webmaster@btcgu ild.com to get details for the private server(s)! These servers are designed to keep you online and hashing even during large DDoS events.

Congratulations and thank you to everybody that purchased a Block Erupter in the launch of BTC Guild's ASIC Store. I never imagined that 1,000 units would sell out and be fully paid for in under an hour. More units will be coming in as long as there is demand, and placing orders now secures your queue position on the next batch.
BTC Guild
ASICMINER USB Block Erupters will soon be on sale at BTC Guild at a price of 1 BTC + shipping.
Batch 1 (100 units) should arrive before the weekend, with Batch 2 (150 units) early next week. A final starting batch of 650 units is also expected to arrive next week.

After many delays, BTC Guild finally has a Facebook page for providing news updates and outage information as needed for when the website is unavailable or going through maintenance.
BTC Guild Shutting Down
Last updated on January 2nd, 2018 at 12:00 am
Looks like one of the older pools in the bitcoin mining space BTC Guild is calling it quits after getting started back in 2011.
BTC Guild will stop all business on January 31st, 2015 after giving a three-month warning effective today. All user registrations are also disabled and no new users will be able to join the mining pool. The mining servers will continue to run until November 30th, 2014 at which time they will be brought offline. Users will have until 11:59pm PST on January 31st, 2015 to withdraw any remaining balances they might have.
The website has been updated to say this and states that the timelines could change if the site is sold.
BTC Guild is closing due to the costs and risks of a potential hacking attempt and because of the current regulatory environment in the United States. Concerns that regulations could prompt pool owners to begin collecting personally identifiable information in the future is just something that BTC Guild is unwilling to do.
In the event that the site is sold to a new outfit the user data of mining history or withdrawal history will not be given to the new owner to be sure that users don’t risk of losing what they have earned to date on the pool.
The current operator eleuthria shared the following closing words on the BTC Guild website and bitcoin talk:
When I got into Bitcoin back in March of 2011, I never expected anything that we’ve seen over the last 3 and a half years. I had never built a computer before, never run a server beyond a Gentoo PC in a spare bedroom, and never setup a website that experienced even 0.1% of the traffic BTC Guild gets on an average day.
Bitcoin and BTC Guild have both radically changed my life. While I am closing BTC Guild, I still plan to remain a part of the Bitcoin community. I do believe, even in the face of over-regulation, that Bitcoin will continue to grow and become more useful and usable. I just feel that it is time to move on from BTC Guild, and take pride in the fact that BTC Guild’s closure can show that not all Bitcoin businesses end with somebody stealing funds from their users, either by “getting hacked” or outright theft.
Good luck in your new adventures eleuthria!

2.5% donators (calculated on a per block basis) are able to claim their rewards without waiting for 120 confirmations of the block. This also acts as invalid protection, similar to DeepBit, where a user can claim rewards even if the block is later invalidated/orphaned by the network.
The coinbase signature for this pool is: "Mined by BTC Guild" [1] .
BTC Guild first opened up on May 9th, 2011. [2] It is currently for sale and a possible buyer has been found. There is a 90 day notice period. If the sale does not go through, another 90 day notice period will be announced. 30 days for the pool to stop operation and an additional 60 days for users to withdraw their mining proceeds [3] .
On June 15th, 2015, it was announced [4] that BTC Guild will be shutting down on June 30th, 2015. Its operator - Eleuthria - cited concerns over low percentage of network hashrate vs funds in a hot wallet, the New York Bitlicense and possible but difficult to prove gaming of the pool by miners.

Bitcoin Mining Pool BTC Guild to Close Over BitLicense Concerns
UPDATE (16th June 16:00 BST): Following the publication of this article, a spokesperson for the New York State Department of Financial Services told CoinDesk "miners and mining pools are exempt from the BitLicense".
BTC Guild is set to close at the end of June, months after previously announcing that it would shut down its long-running bitcoin mining pool.
In its announcement, posted to Bitcoin Talk, owner Eleuthria cited the finalization of the BitLicense as a primary motivator for shutting down, stating that BTC Guild could not afford any legal threats that may arise as a result of the New York regulatory framework.
The pool announced last October that it was considering closure in the face of falling revenue and rising risks for both users and the pool itself. BTC Guild first floated the idea in July 2014, citing the then-incomplete BitLicense at the time.
Eleuthria noted that whether BTC Guild is based in New York "does not matter" and suggested that the pool could face significant legal liability regardless of its location because "the final regulations have enough gray area that BTC Guild is at risk".
The post explained:
"This fact makes it possible for New York to attempt to claim jurisdiction to enforce regulations. Whether or not BTC Guild could win in defense of such an attempt is irrelevant, since the cost of defending the pool would be greater than any income the pool is expected to generate going forward."
BTC Guild will cease operating after 30th June, with withdrawals available until 30th September.
The mining pool – a collective of miners who share their hashing power to compete for blocks as a group – has reduced its minimum withdrawal amount to 0.0001 BTC, with no transaction fees required to remove money from the platform.
BitLicense, fraud risk blamed
In addition to the BitLicense finalization, the gradual decline in size of the pool relative to its costs and liabilities was cited as a factor in the closure decision.
"As mining has become more centralized, BTC Guild has continuously shrunk in proportion to the network, now being less than 3% of the network hash rate. The costs of running the pool have not changed, and the amount of funds at risk in the event of a compromise is significantly higher than what the pool could ever recover from."
The announcement pointed to the growing risk of fraud BTC Guild allegedly faces, with Eleuthria stating that "I have been growing concerned for some time now about attempts to defraud pools."
"When the pool was 20-30% of the network, the amount of funds at risk was slightly higher, but the ability for the pool to recover from that loss was present," Eleuthria wrote. "At 3% of the network, the pool would not be able to recover from such a loss."
Sale cancelled
In its last announcement, BTC Guild floated the possibility of a sale in order to continue operating. According to the latest post, any idea of a sale was abandoned due to the perceived risk of fraud, as well as "personal attachment" to the pool on the part of its staff.
"The risk of users being cheated or stolen from as a result of transferring pool ownership is not something I am willing to accept," Eleuthria wrote, reiterating that the decision to shut down is in part an effort to protect users from fraud.
Eleuthria went on to thank the community for its support of BTC Guild, which began operating in 2011, writing:
"Thank you to all the users and the Bitcoin community for making BTC Guild a success for the last four years. It has been hard to finally make this call a second time with the determination to not reverse the decision."

Then it would again say

This is the same thing that happened when Samsung and At&t tried to do any kind of searches thru the Yahoo Search App.

Yahoo Search App from the Google Play Store on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone stopped working on May 18, 2018.
I went to the Yahoo Troubleshooting page but the article that said to do a certain 8 steps to fix the problem with Yahoo Services not working and how to fix the problem. Of course they didn't work.
I contacted Samsung thru their Samsung Tutor app on my phone. I gave their Technican access to my phone to see if there was a problem with my phone that stopped the Yahoo Search App from working. He went to Yahoo and… more

I want all my lost access yahoo account 'delete'; Requesting supporter for these old account deletion; 'except' my Newest yahoo account this Account don't delete! Because I don't want it interfering my online 'gamble' /games/business/data/ Activity , because the computer/security program might 'scure' my Information and detect theres other account; then secure online activities/ business securing from my suspicion because of my other account existing will make the security program be 'Suspicious' until I'm 'secure'; and if I'm gambling online 'Depositing' then I need those account 'delete' because the insecurity 'Suspicioun' will program the casino game 'Programs' securities' to be 'secure' then it'll be 'unfair' gaming and I'll lose because of the insecurity can be a 'Excuse'. Hope y'all understand my explanation!

In the search for Anaïs Nin, one of the first few links shows a picture of a man. Why? Since Nin is a woman, I can’t figure out why. Can you show some reason for this? Who is he? If you click on the picture a group of pictures of Nin and no mention of that man. Is it an error?
Repair the Yahoo Search App.
Yahoo Search App from the Google Play Store on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone stopped working on May 18, 2018.

I contacted Samsung thru their Samsung Tutor app on my phone. I gave their Technican access to my phone to see if there was a problem with my phone that stopped the Yahoo Search App from working. He went to Yahoo and I signed in so he could try to fix the Yahoo Search App not working. He also used another phone, installed the app from the Google Play Store to see if the app would do any kind of search thru the app. The Yahoo Search App just wasn't working.
I also had At&t try to help me because I have UVERSE for my internet service. My internet was working perfectly. Their Technical Support team member checked the Yahoo Search App and it wouldn't work for him either.
We can go to www.yahoo.com and search for any topic or website. It's just the Yahoo Search App that won't allow anyone to do web searches at all.
I let Google know that the Yahoo Search App installed from their Google Play Store had completely stopped working on May 18, 2018.
I told them that Yahoo has made sure that their Yahoo members can't contact them about anything.
I noticed that right after I accepted the agreement that said Oath had joined with Verizon I started having the problem with the Yahoo Search App.
