Repair the Yahoo Search App.

Yahoo Search App from the Google Play Store on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone stopped working on May 18, 2018.

I went to the Yahoo Troubleshooting page but the article that said to do a certain 8 steps to fix the problem with Yahoo Services not working and how to fix the problem. Of course they didn't work.

I contacted Samsung thru their Samsung Tutor app on my phone. I gave their Technican access to my phone to see if there was a problem with my phone that stopped the Yahoo Search App from working. He went to Yahoo and I signed in so he could try to fix the Yahoo Search App not working. He also used another phone, installed the app from the Google Play Store to see if the app would do any kind of search thru the app. The Yahoo Search App just wasn't working.

I also had At&t try to help me because I have UVERSE for my internet service. My internet was working perfectly. Their Technical Support team member checked the Yahoo Search App and it wouldn't work for him either.

We can go to www.yahoo.com and search for any topic or website. It's just the Yahoo Search App that won't allow anyone to do web searches at all.

I let Google know that the Yahoo Search App installed from their Google Play Store had completely stopped working on May 18, 2018.

I told them that Yahoo has made sure that their Yahoo members can't contact them about anything.

I noticed that right after I accepted the agreement that said Oath had joined with Verizon I started having the problem with the Yahoo Search App.

Overstock CEO and bitcoin pioneer explains his long-standing crypto play and his philosophy on life

Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne sat down with Business Insider's Sara Silverstein to discuss his longstanding belief in cryptos, a revolutionary cryptocurrency called Ravencoin, and his philosophy on life. Following is a transcript of the video.

Sara Silverstein: So Overstock.com has been accepting bitcoin for as long as I can remember anyone has.

Patrick Byrne: We were the first. We were the first — there was a — the largest company then accepting bitcoin was an $800,000 a year restaurant diner in western Australia. We stepped up and started taking it — we were $1.4 billion. So we often — I like to think that we saved that community about five years in their adoption cycle.

Silverstein: And how much of bitcoin are you transferring to cash right now?

Byrne: Now we only transfer 50% and the rest we keep in bitcoin. And then periodically, we do — we have cashed in bitcoin and made a few million dollars along the way or five million dollars somewhere like that. But generally, as we go along, we do 50% retain bitcoin 50% USD.

Silverstein: And where do you think the bitcoin price should be?

Byrne: No idea. No idea. Wherever millions of people through their trading say it should be. I can't read their — there's no way anyway —

Silverstein: Yeah, and are you interested in everything cryptocurrency? Or are you really interested in the blockchain? Where do you separate the two?

Byrne: Well I'm not really interested in cryptocurrencies per se. Although in general, I guess there's nothing wrong with me saying there is an open-source project of which I'm really letting something big out of the bag here. I'll tell you. But there's an open-source project called Raven coin, which Overstock has put millions of dollars into teams. We have people contributing to this open-source project. We think this coin actually has quite a future. It's about — it's bitcoin, but a thousand times more energy efficient. And there's other real interesting virtues to it — so Ravencoin. But other than that, I stay out of the cryptocurrency game. I'm building the — we're focusing on applications of this technology and not just betting on coins themselves.

Silverstein: And is that the primary purpose of Ravencoin is to be a more energy efficient version of some of these other cryptocurrencies?

Byrne: That's — I'd say that's the first feature it brings to the world. What I hear — from the open-source community and on the message boards — I know what they are working on and it seems — it's really quite a — I think it has — it was launched January 3 and it's as this open-source project. And I think it has more — last I heard — the number of miners who are now working on it — or it has spread faster than any number of miners of any coin introduced. It's really quite a phenomenon this Ravencoin. So — and what's nice it's democratized. Yeah, it — what happens is, you know, all these coins like bitcoin and such are built on — there's a processor that's solving mathematical problems. And it's possible to build chips that specialize in just that problem. And so you really can't — with your home computer, you're not going to mine any bitcoin anymore unless you have this dedicated ASIC chip. Well, Ravencoin was designed, so you can't do that — it's ASIC resistant. And that's because the problem that you solve keeps flipping randomly among a bunch of class of problems. Anyway, you can't solve it efficiently with an ASIC's chip, which means it redemocratizes mining. Anyone can download this software, and you don't have an advantage by having this big mining warehouse in China.

Silverstein: And what's your life philosophy? I know you've ridden your bike across country five times?

Byrne: Four times

Byrne: Don't remind me —

Silverstein: I know, just exaggerating —

Silverstein: And you obviously run your company different than a lot of people run their companies.

Byrne: Is it that obvious?

Silverstein: Yeah, just a little bit. What would you say your philosophy is? What keeps you going? What keeps you creative?

Byrne: Really? No one has ever asked me that question. Truth is it's service. That's what we're all here for — is service. You know, at some point in your life, you realize it's not about me, and it's not about gaining stuff, it's finding ways to serve other people.

Morgan Stanley is jumping on the bitcoin futures bandwagon

Reuters/ Yuri Gripas

  • Morgan Stanley is clearing bitcoin futures trades for clients, according to Bloomberg News.
  • It joins rival Goldman Sachs and a number of large brokerages.

Morgan Stanley has followed the lead of its rival Goldman Sachs and is clearing bitcoin futures trades for clients.

Jonathan Pruzan, the bank's chief financial officer, said the firm has been clearing bitcoin futures trades made on Cboe Global Markets and CME Group, in an interview with Bloomberg News.

The exchange groups launched bitcoin futures in December, but much of Wall Street has been taking a wait and see approach on the product which is tied to a cryptocurrency known for its spine-tingling volatility. Goldman Sachs is the only other major Wall Street bank known to be clearing bitcoin futures trades, according to Bloomberg.

"If someone wants to do a trade on the futures and settle in cash, we'll do that," Pruzan told Bloomberg. "I wouldn't say it's been a lot of activity, but it's for core institutional clients who want to participate in a derivatives transaction."

Large brokerages such as TD Ameritrade, E*Trade, and Interactive Brokers are allowing some clients to trade futures through their platforms.

The news is on the heels of a major sell-off in the cryptocurrency markets. During Wednesday's trading session, the total value of the cryptocurrency market fell below $420 billion, almost half of its worth on January 7.

The markets have since come storming back and at last check the market capitalization for all cryptocurrencies stood at $595 billion, according to CoinMarketCap data.

BITCOIN 101: A Beginner's Guide To The Unfakeable Digital Anarchist Currency Everyone's Obsessed With

Flickr / dekstop You've probably noticed people talking and tweeting endlessly about "Bitcoin" lately.

The Economist finds it intriguing while GigaOM's Matthew Ingram points out several problems with it.

It's even gotten the attention of economic heavyweight Paul Krugman, who has said it's like a reimplementation of the gold standard.

So what the heck is it?

Start Slideshow »

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is a decentralized, anonymous, digital-only currency that's lately gotten a lot of public attention.

But this isn't some brand new invention — Bitcoin was originally developed in 2008.

How did this all start?

In 2008, someone using the pseudonym "Satoshi Nakamoto" published a paper describing how Bitcoins could work. Just one year later, they started being traded and mined (more on that in the next slide).

Where do Bitcoins come from?

Sure, you can buy Bitcoins with money. But you can also play prospector and "mine" them as well.

You do this by using your computer to hunt for 64-digit numbers. By having your computer repeatedly solve puzzles, you're competing with other miners to generate the number that the Bitcoin network is looking for. If your computer generates it, you receive 25 Bitcoins.

The Bitcoin system is decentralized and programmed to generate a fixed number of Bitcoins per unit of computing time. Currently, it's set at 25 Bitcoins for every 10-minute block. In 2140, the total number of Bitcoins in circulation will be capped at 21 million. In other words, the Bitcoin system is self-sustaining, coded to prevent inflation, and encrypted to prevent anyone from disrupting its code.

Bitcoin cash sinks below $1,000

Markets Insider

  • Bitcoin cash fell more than 12% to below $1,000 on Wednesday.
  • The cryptocurrency recently increased its block size fourfold to support more transactions.
  • Follow bitcoin cash in real-time here.

Bitcoin cash sank more than 12% Wednesday, falling below $1,000 for the first time since April.

The fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap is now trading near $997 per token, even after its recent fork which increased its block size fourfold.

"The Bitcoin Cash network has been displaying some erratic behaviour over the past few weeks, which has contributed to the downwards pressure on prices," Iqbal Gandham, managing director for eToro, a British crypto firm, told Business Insider in an email. "Despite a recent surge, it’s now moving towards the head and shoulders pattern we’ve seen since last year."

Last week, bitcoin cash upgraded its software with a patch known as Bitcoin ABC, which increased the size of transaction blocks on the network from 8mb to 32mb. The upgrade also removed the Segwit protocol , short for segregated witness, a process by which the number of transactions in a block can be increased by moving certain signature data from transactions to the end of the block.

Bitcoin cash has been accused of misleading investors by piggy-backing off the bitcoin name. While the new cryptocurrency includes the history of the original bitcoin's transactions up until the split, since the fork, the two currencies are unrelated except for their shared history and name.

Vocal bitcoin cash supporter Roger Ver, who owns bitcoin.com via an LLC registered at a Marriott resort on St. Kitts, and refers to the original bitcoin as "bitcoin core," has appeared on numerous internet talk shows, including the conspiracy-theory site InfoWars, to promote the coin.

"For over a year Bitcoin cash has been fighting the battle to become the 'default' bitcoin, a battle which traditionalists are not keen to lose," Gandham said. "This lack of clarity, has repeatedly called into question the authenticity of Bitcoin cash, and until that is resolved the direction of price movement will always carry an air of uncertainty.”

Bitcoin steuern?

Was haltet ihr eigentlich davon?

About Bitcoin Price

What is Bitcoin? By Markets Insider

Bitcoin keeps coming back in the headlines. With any Bitcoin price change making news and keeping investors guessing.

In countries that accept it, you can buy groceries and clothes just as you would with the local currency. Only bitcoin is entirely digital; no one is carrying actual bitcoins around in their pocket.

Bitcoin is divorced from governments and central banks. It's organized through a network known as a blockchain, which is basically an online ledger that keeps a secure record of each transaction and bitcoin price all in one place. Every time anyone buys or sells bitcoin, the swap gets logged. Several hundred of these back-and-forths make up a block.

No one controls these blocks, because blockchains are decentralized across every computer that has a bitcoin wallet, which you only get if you buy bitcoins.

Why bother using it?

True to its origins as an open, decentralized currency, bitcoin is meant to be a quicker, cheaper, and more reliable form of payment than money tied to individual countries. In addition, it's the only form of money users can theoretically "mine" themselves, if they (and their computers) have the ability.

But even for those who don't discover using their own high-powered computers, anyone can buy and sell bitcoins at the bitcoin price they want, typically through online exchanges like Coinbase or LocalBitcoins.

A 2015 survey showed bitcoin users tend to be overwhelmingly white and male, but of varying incomes. The people with the most bitcoins are more likely to be using it for illegal purposes, the survey suggested.

Each bitcoin has a complicated ID, known as a hexadecimal code, that is many times more difficult to steal than someone's credit-card information. And since there is a finite number to be accounted for, there is less of a chance bitcoin or fractions of a bitcoin will go missing.

But while fraudulent credit-card purchases are reversible, bitcoin transactions are not.

Bitcoin is unique in that there are a finite number of them: 21 million. Satoshi Nakamoto, bitcoin's enigmatic founder, arrived at that number by assuming people would discover, or "mine," a set number of blocks of transactions daily.

Every four years, the number of bitcoins released relative to the previous cycle gets cut in half, as does the reward to miners for discovering new blocks. (The reward right now is 12.5 bitcoins.) As a result, the number of bitcoins in circulation will approach 21 million, but never hit it.

This means bitcoin never experiences inflation. Unlike US dollars, whose buying power the Fed can dilute by printing more greenbacks, there simply won't be more bitcoin available in the future. That has worried some skeptics, as it means a hack could be catastrophic in wiping out people's bitcoin wallets, with less hope for reimbursement. Which could render bitcoin price irrelevant.

The future of bitcoin

Historically, the currency has been extremely volatile. But go by its recent boom — and a forecast by Snapchat's first investor, Jeremy Liew, that it will hit a bitcoin price of $500,000 by 2030 — and nabbing even a fraction of a bitcoin starts to look a lot more enticing.

Bitcoin users predict 94% of all bitcoins will have been released by 2024. As the total number creeps toward the 21 million mark, many suspect the profits miners once made creating new blocks will become so low they'll become negligible. With bitcoin’s price dropping significantly. But with more bitcoins in circulation, people also expect transaction fees to rise, possibly making up the difference.

One of the biggest moments for Bitcoin came in August 2017. When the digital currency officially forked and split in two: bitcoin cash and bitcoin.

Miners were able to seek out bitcoin cash beginning Tuesday August 1st 2017, and the cryptocurrency-focused news website CoinDesk said the first bitcoin cash was mined at about 2:20 p.m. ET.

Supporters of the newly formed bitcoin cash believe the currency will "breath new life into" the nearly 10-year-old bitcoin by addressing some of the issues facing bitcoin of late, such as slow transaction speeds.

Bitcoin power brokers have been squabbling over the rules that should guide the cryptocurrency's blockchain network.

On one side are the so-called core developers. They are in favor of smaller bitcoin blocks, which they say are less vulnerable to hacking. On the other side are the miners, who want to increase the size of blocks to make the network faster and more scalable.

Until just before the decision, the solution known as Segwit2x, which would double the size of bitcoin blocks to 2 megabytes, seemed to have universal support.

Then bitcoin cash came along. The solution is a fork of the bitcoin system. The new software has all the history of the old platform; however, bitcoin cash blocks have a capacity 8 megabytes.

Bitcoin cash came out of left field, according to Charles Morris, a chief investment officer of NextBlock Global, an investment firm with digital assets.

"A group of miners who didn't like SegWit2x are opting for this new software that will increase the size of blocks from the current 1 megabyte to 8," Morris told Business Insider.

To be sure, only a minority of bitcoin miners and bitcoin exchanges have said they will support the new currency.

Investors who have their bitcoin on exchanges or wallets that support the new currency will soon see their holdings double, with one unit in bitcoin cash added for every bitcoin. But that doesn't mean the value of investors' holdings will double.

Because bitcoin cash initially drew its value from bitcoin's market cap, it caused bitcoin's value to drop by an amount proportional to its adoption on launch.

The future of bitcoin and bitcoin’s price remains uncertain. It could go to a $1,000,000 or it could go to $0. No one truly knows.

In the search for Anaïs Nin, one of the first few links shows a picture of a man. Why? Since Nin is a woman, I can’t figure out why. Can you show some reason for this? Who is he? If you click on the picture a group of pictures of Nin and no mention of that man. Is it an error?

No matter what I search for or website thru the Yahoo Search App it says the following after I searched for
www.att.com.

WEBPAGE NOT AVAILABLE
This webpage at gttp://r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geJGq8BbkrgALEMMITE5jylu=X3oDMTEzcTjdWsyBGNvbG8DYmyxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDTkFQUEMwxzEEc2VjA3NylRo=10/Ru=https%3a%2f%2fwww.att.att.com%2f/Rk=2/Es=plkGNRAB61_XKqFjTEN7J8cXA-
could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

I tried to search for things like www.homedepot.com. The same thing happened. It would say WEBPAGE NOT AVAILABLE. The only thing that changed were all the upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.
Then it would again say
could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

This is the same thing that happened when Samsung and At&t tried to do any kind of searches thru the Yahoo Search App.

Yahoo needs to fix the problem with their app.
