PayPal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. A PayPal account can be funded with electronic debits from a bank account, from a MoneyPak card or by receiving a money transfer from another PayPal member. Funds in a PayPal account can be withdrawn to a bank account or by sending a money transfer to another PayPal member.

The fee for transferring money to another PayPal member can vary based on options. The typical transaction charge for PayPal is $0.30 per transaction plus 2.9% of the amount transferred. The transaction charge is deducted from the payment amount. A "personal, payments owed" transaction to another PayPal account where the recipient's account is not a business account will incur no transfer fee. International payments will incur an additional currency exchange fee of at least 1%, in many instances.

PayPal operates in 190 markets worldwide.

U.S. Accounts

When a payment is funded from a linked bank account, an ACH transaction is made. There appears to be differences in the type of ACH transaction depending on where the PayPal payment was sent.

For payment from a U.S. PayPal account to another U.S. PayPal account, the ACH transaction code used is WEB.

International

For payment from a U.S. PayPal account to a PayPal account that is outside the U.S., the ACH transaction code used is IAT. Accompanying the IAT transaction is the payment recipient's name.

In other words, more information is transmitted to the bank when the PayPal transaction is for a payment that crosses borders than might be sent for a payment that stays within the U.S.

It is not recommended to use PayPal for bitcoin transfers. In many cases the buyer issued a charge-back-fraud. The case is automatically closed by PayPal if he states that his account was compromised. It is not uncommon for PayPal to ban your account and keep your funds if they find out that you are transferring bitcoin.

How to Buy Bitcoins with PayPal

We can both agree on this:

Buying bitcoins with PayPal is hard and confusing.

Luckily, today we'll show you how easy and fast it can be.

We've put together the complete guide on how to convert PayPal to bitcoin.

We'll get into the tutorial soon.

First, understand this:

VirWoX is the easiest and most popular way to buy bitcoins with PayPal.

VirWoX is the workaround/hack discussed in this guide.

It's not super simple, but yes it really works and is the best way to buy bitcoin with PayPal today.

We suggest using the exchanges listed below or doing research before buying from any exchange.

Many exchanges are simply trying to steal your passwords and personal information!

We do research on every exchange we list and are very careful not to include scam exchanges on our site.

VirWoX: The PayPal to Bitcoin Exchange

VirWoX

Here’s what’s funny:

Technically, VirWoX is not a Bitcoin exchange.

VirWoX primarily serves as a market for Second Life Lindens, a currency used in the virtual world, Second Life.

Although you cannot buy bitcoins with PayPal directly through VirWoX, it is possible to buy Second Life Lindens (SLL) and then sell these for bitcoins.

While complex, this process works reliably.

The major drawback is that all the associated fees total roughly 10%.

A quick step-by-step guide on how to buy bitcoins with PayPal on VirWoX exchange:

  1. Deposit dollars or euros using PayPal to VirWoX exchange.
  2. Purchase "Second Life Lindens" with your USD or EUR
  3. Buy bitcoins with your "Second Life Lindens"
  4. Withdraw the BTC to your own Bitcoin wallet!
  • The easiest and perhaps only reliable way to purchase bitcoins with PayPal or Skrill
  • Convenience at a price; around 10% in fees to buy bitcoins with PayPal

Note: You may need to wait a couple days after opening a VirWoX account before you can deposit money.

After your first deposit, future deposits can be made instantly.

Your initial buying limit is $90 per day or $270 per month, although these limits grow quickly with time!

Before we start:

You'll need a Bitcoin wallet to withdraw your coins to after you buy.

Don't have a wallet?

Read our guide on the best Bitcoin wallets.

Recommendation

The 10% fees are crazy high for buying bitcoins with PayPal.

Were you buying with a PayPal account connected to your credit or debit card?

The fees are much lower and you'll get your bitcoins faster.

Still want to buy BTC with PayPal? Keep reading and we'll show you how!

Tutorial: Buying Bitcoin with PayPal on VirWoX

Here are step-by-step instructions to help make buying BTC with PayPal easier:

1. Open an account on VirWoX

From the home page, click on “Not registered yet?”

2. Enter the details for your account

Now you’ll enter your details in order to create an account. Don’t get confused by the section titled “Link to avatar”. You can leave this untouched.

3. Check your email

At this point, your account has been created. A temporary password will be emailed to the address you provided in step two.

This password is temporary and MUST be changed. If you don’t change this password within 24 hours your account will be deleted. We show you how to change your password in the next step.

4. Change your password

Once you login with your temporary password, click on “Change settings” in the left sidebar.

5. Create a new password

Enter a new password. Make sure you choose a strong password, since you're dealing with money!

6. Deposit from PayPal

Once you’ve changed your password, click on “Deposit” in the left sidebar.

7. Deposit and select amount

Scroll down a bit to find the option to deposit with PayPal. Enter the amount you want to deposit on the left and then click the “Checkout with PayPal” button.

8. Login to PayPal

Sign in to PayPal. Note on the left side that I'm depositing $2. This is the amount I chose back in step 7. If this amount is not what you chose, go back and enter a new amount.

9. Verify account balance

If you followed PayPal’s directions successfully, you should now see a balance in your VirWoX account. Note that the amount displayed in your VirWoX account may be slightly less than the amount you entered in step 7. This is because PayPal charges a 2.9% + $0.30 fee per deposit.

After this, click on “USD/SLL”. If you deposited with Euro then click “EUR/SLL”.

10. Trade USD for Second Life Lindens

Remember how we said you’ll have to buy Second Life Lindens and then trade those for bitcoins? Well, now we’re buying the SLL. In this step you need to sell the USD you deposited from PayPal and get SLL.

Enter the amount of USD you want to sell.

11. Complete order

You can see in the top left of the image below that I now have a balance in SLL. If you now have SLL, that means everything has gone well.

Now click on “BTC/SLL” in the left sidebar. Now we’re going to exchange our SLL for bitcoin.

12. Trade SLL for BTC

The process is the same here. Simply enter the amount of BTC you want to buy and click “Next”.

13. Buy bitcoin!

That’s it! You should now see your balance in BTC displayed in the top left of the screen. You’ve successfully bought bitcoin with PayPal.

Recommendation

Did you just buy bitcoins? Don't store your bitcoins on VirWoX!

Frequently Asked Questions

If you're still a bit confused, that's okay. Buying bitcoins is hard and that's why I built this site.

The FAQ section below should answer all of your remaining questions.

Is using VirWoX really the fastest and best way to buy bitcoins via PayPal?

PayPal bans its users from selling bitcoins for PayPal funds.

Even if sellers were allowed to accept PayPal for bitcoins, the risk of fraud and chargebacks would be too large and premiums/fees would likely be higher than VirWoX.

One way that may be better is if you are able to find a local dealer at a Bitcoin meetup. If someone you trust is willing to sell you bitcoins directly for PayPal, this a good option.

Recommendation

The fees are crazy high for buying bitcoins with PayPal.

Were you buying with a PayPal account connected to your credit or debit card?

The fees are much lower and you'll get your bitcoins faster.

As a PayPal merchant, can I accept bitcoins?

There have been rumors of Bitcoin integration for PayPal merchants. At this time, however, this is still no way to accept bitcoins through PayPal's merchant tools.

Does PayPal Accept Bitcoin as a Deposit Method?

You can't fund your PayPal account using Bitcoin from within PayPal.

Using an exchange like Coinbase you can sell bitcoins to your PayPal account.

Can I Buy Bitcoin with PayPal on Coinbase?

Is There a PayPal Bitcoin Wallet?

Even so, PayPal still has not integrated Bitcoin with its services.

Is there a VirWoX Review I can read?

We've put together a complete review of VirWoX. To read it, click here.

Can I Buy Bitcoin with PayPal No ID?

VirWoX does not require ID to purchase although you may be required to use a verified PayPal account.

What is Paxful?

Paxful is a LocalBitcoins type service that also allows people to buy bitcoin with PayPal. We don't list it here, though, since VirWoX is the main method we can recommend for now.

recommendation

Do you want to buy bitcoins more privately? Try buying bitcoins with cash instead.

Should I leave my bitcoins on the exchange after I buy?

We really recommend storing any bitcoins you want to keep safe in a wallet you own.

Many Bitcoin exchanges have been hacked and lost customer funds. If you don't want to fall victim to these hacks then the easiest way is to store your coins in a wallet you control.

Can you sell bitcoins to PayPal?

As mentioned above, you can use Coinbase in the USA and some of Europe. The fees for selling bitcoins to PayPal are 3.75% using Coinbase.

You can always reverse the process explained in this post, but that comes with the same crazy 10% fees.

Can you buy other cryptocurrency using this method?

You can use this method to buy bitcoins and then trade the bitcoins for another cryptocurrency using an exchange like Poloniex or Kraken.

Does Poloniex accept PayPal?

Poloniex is currently one of the biggest crypto exchanges and many people want to know if it accepts deposits via PayPal.

Well, the answer is no. Poloniex only deals with cryptocurrency and does not accept deposits using credit card, bank transfer, cash or PayPal.

Theft, Scams, and Storage

If you get one thing from this article let it be this:

Don't store your bitcoins on exchanges.

I've been buying bitcoins for more than three years. I've never lost any money to scams or thefts. Follow the guidelines in this article and you'll be able to do the same.

Here are two examples where users got screwed by leaving bitcoins on exchanges:

And there are many more I could list.

Make sure you get yourself a Bitcoin wallet that will securely store your bitcoins.

Besides storage, there are many scam exchanges out to steal your credit card information and/or bitcoins.

Following these two basic principles should help you avoid theft, scams, and any other loss of funds:

  1. Do research before buying on any exchange. Check reviews, ratings, and regulation information.
  2. Don't store coins on the exchange. Already mentioned above but worth repeating.

How to Buy Bitcoin with PayPal on LocalBitcoins

We don't recommend buying bitcoins with PayPal on LocalBitcoins. The prices are much higher than VirWoX and the limits usually lower.

With LocalBitcoins, the fees are even worse as the premium is about 20% compared to the global Bitcoin exchange rate. Plus another 1% charged by LocalBitcoins!

Another difference is with LocalBitcoins you are dealing with an individual seller rather than a marketplace. You will also need a verified phone number connected to your LocalBitcoins account.

To start, login to LocalBitcoins and then enter your buy amount and PayPal as the payment method:

You should now see a list of sellers willing to accept PayPal. Note that when I wrote this guide, the price of Bitcoin was $1,000 so the prices are mostly even more than 20% above the market rate!

Click on one of the sellers and you'll see a page like this:

In the example above, you can see the buyer's limits on the left side (25-100 USD). On the right, the buyer has laid a number of rules and requirements for your PayPal account. This buyer, for example, requires that you send a picture of your photo ID, have a verified PayPal account, and also send a selfie holding your ID. VirWoX does not have any of these requirements. Also, most sellers on LocalBitcoins do not sell to residents of New York.

Note, you can also check a seller's feedback and history. Click on the username on the right side and a new tab will show that looks like this:

This seller has 3,000+ confirmed trades so your transaction would likely go through smoothly. If a seller has no feedback/history, this is a huge red flag!

If you had a verified account then on the left side you would be able to enter how much you want to buy and go through with your trade!

5 Methods to Buy Bitcoin With PayPal Instantly in 2018

Last updated on April 30th, 2018 at 02:58 pm

Buy Bitcoin with PayPal – step by step tutorial

One of the biggest issues today in Bitcoin is the fact that you can’t buy it very easily. Even though PayPal has been very favorable of Bitcoin in the past 4 years, it’s still an issue to find credible places to buy Bitcoins with PayPal in 2018.

Why won’t PayPal allow this ? Simple. There are numerous chargeback cases created by scammers who buy Bitcoin with PayPal from you and then claim they didn’t receive anything. This way they get to keep their money and their Bitcoins (here’s a short video illustrating this).

Post summary:

  1. Go to Virwox
  2. Deposit money to your account with PayPal
  3. Buy SLL on the SLL/USD exchange
  4. Buy Bitcoins with your newly purchased SLL on the SLL/BTC exchange
  5. Withdraw your Bitcoins

And now for a more detailed explanation and some additional options…

Bitcoin exchanges

Local Bitcoins

Buy Bitcoins with PayPal through eToro

Pros: Relatively low fees, variety of payment methods accepted

Cons: You don’t actually own the Bitcoins, not available in the US

The easiest way to buy Bitcoin with PayPal if you’re only looking to profit from Bitcoin’s price swings would be through eToro. The platform will allow you to buy Bitcoins with PayPal but you will not be able to withdraw them or send them to other people – you will only be able to sell them for fiat currency (i.e. Dollars, Euros, etc.). This method is only valid if you live outside of the US.

So if you’re only looking to profit from price swings and don’t require the actual Bitcoins this is probably the easiest and cheapest way to go. If however, you need the actual Bitcoins to buy stuff or send them to another person, keep on reading.

IMPORTANT! If you use eToro you don’t actually need a Bitcoin wallet as they don’t supply you the actual coins. Also, Cryptocurrencies can widely fluctuate in prices and are not appropriate for all investors. Trading cryptocurrencies is not supervised by any EU regulatory framework. So keep in mind that your capital is at risk.

Buy Bitcoins with PayPal through Virwox

Pros: A reliable method that has been around for a long time.

Cons: High fees

Now since no exchange currently allows a way around the charge back issues of buying Bitcoins with PayPal we are going to have to go through Virwox – The Virtual World Exchange. We will use a virtual currency called SLL (Second Life Linden Dollars), This currency is used for one of the biggest virtual worlds today – Second Life.

After buying this currency with PayPal (which is acceptable) we will then trade it to Bitcoins. My guess is that Virwox is able to do this method since they are not directly selling you Bitcoins with PayPal but rather selling you SLL with PayPal which they can prove if you received (unlike Bitcoin since it’s anonymous in nature).

Things you should know about Virwox before we get started:

  • Because of chargeback risk Virwox is taking on themselves they are limiting the amount you can deposit initially through PayPal or a credit card, here are the exact limits according to their website from April 29th 2018.

  • This process holds more transaction fees than usual. This may still be a valid solution since the soaring numbers of BTC compensate for this. It’s important for you to be aware of the different transaction fees.
  • Virwox is delaying new user transactions for up to 48 hours. This means that it can take you 2 days to complete this process (still way faster than using a wire transfer).
  • If you still don’t receive the Bitcoins after 48 hours (which is very unusual) you can contact Virwox at [email protected]

1. Go to Virwox.

Virwox is an exchange of virtual currency, you can buy there Lindens, Bitcoins, and more. It has more than 400,000 registered users and is a Second Life Lindens authorized reseller.

2. Open a free account

Click on the “not registered yet” on the top of the left sidebar to open up a new account as shown here:

3. Fill out our personal details

Fill out your username and email address. Where it asks for “avatar name” just leave it at “No Avatar”, it doesn’t matter, since you’re not going to play Second Life.

4. Activate your account

5. IMPORTANT. Change your password!

Do not worry about the message saying “Your avatar connection has not been validated yet” – it is irrelevant.

6. Fund your account through PayPal

Note: From now on for each transaction you will make there will be a fee – make sure you are aware of the relevant deposit and withdrawal fees.

7. Buy SLL with USD

Note: If you haven’t made a deposit yet you will get the screen shown above requesting you to deposit before you buy SLL.

8. Buy BTC with SLL

9. Withdraw your Bitcoins

Will this method actually work?

Probably yes. I’m saying probably because I have received a handful of emails from people who weren’t able to get their Bitcoins. having said that, from all of the people who didn’t get their coins I haven’t gotten one email stating their money wasn’t returned to them. So yes, the process is a bit irritating but I have been using this method since 2013 and it hasn’t failed me yet.

How much fees will be deducted from my deposit?

This is probably the second most asked question I get. It’s important to understand that when you buy Bitcoins through Virwox you are actually conducting two transactions. USD to SLL and SLL to BTC. This means you’ll need to pay a fee for each of these transactions.

The problem is that Virwox’s fee structure is always changing that is why I advise to check each case in person before proceeding. There is a pretty cool site which shows you the current BTC/USD rate after all of Virwox’s fees. I’m not sure how reliable the site is but you can check it out for yourself here.

Are there any other methods to buy Bitcoin with Paypal other than Virowx?

Yes. However Virwox has been around for the longest time and therefore is the most reliable. If you continue reading this post I will cover 4 more methods that you can use but each of them has its pros and cons.

Buy Bitcoins with PayPal through Local Bitcoins

Pros: Wide variety of sellers from around the world

Cons: High fees, the chance of scam

If you’re still looking for additional ways you can take a look at LocalBitcoins and try to find sellers that perhaps will be willing to sell you Bitcoin with PayPal.

Local Bitcoins, unlike Virwox is a marketplace where buyers and sellers meet. If you use this option you’ll be dealing with an actual person which means that credibility also comes into play. The way you can use Local Bitcoins to buy Bitcoins with PayPal is by finding a person that is willing to sell them to you. But since the seller is taking a big risk (as I explained at the beginning of this post) the will usually charge a really big premium (most of the times this will be more expensive than Virwox). The upside is that you will usually get your Bitcoins faster.

1. Enter your search parameters

The first step will be to go to Local Bitcoins and enter how much you want to buy and from which country. Since Local Bitcoins was originally made for people to meet face to face there is no “worldwide” search which is a shame. This means that there is no way to see all of the people who are willing to sell you will PaPal worldwide other than going through each country one at a time.

2. Choose your seller

On the next screen you’ll see a list of available sellers, you can now browse them one by one. Here are the things to take into account: Feedback score – Located under the seller’s name. It’s advised to conduct transactions only with high feedback sellers.

Trade limits – Each seller has a minimum / maximum amount of Bitcoins he’s willing to trade.

Payment window – How much time you have for paying the purchase and marking the payment done after you initiate a trade. It’s also super important to read the terms of trade for the specific seller located on the right side. Here’s an example:

Some sellers will require you have an initial reputation in order to buy from them so they can avoid scams or fraud. This means that you will perhaps have to conduct some small transactions just to get reputation.

3. Complete the trade

Once you’ve found your seller just enter how much you will to buy and click on “Send trade request”.
Keep in mind that it’s crucial to conduct all communications within Local Bitcoins and preferably use their Escrow services (which are triggered automatically for all online sales). This method is faster the Virwox but it can take you a lot of time to gain enough reputation, find your seller and also the premiums are really high (around %30 and more…).

Buy Bitcoin with Paypal through Wirex

Pros: Medium fees

Cons: Requires a long time to complete (around 10 days)

Wirex is a company that supplies virtual and physical Bitcoin debit cards. Since it’s just like any other debit card you can useWirex’s card with your PayPal account. In order to buy Bitcoins with your Wirex debit card here’s what you’ll need to do:

1.Order a physical / virtual debit card from Wirex

Go to Wirex. Click on “request new card” and choose the type of card you want. It’s possible to buy Bitcoins with PayPal through both cards (physical and virtual).

A Virtual card should cost around $3 and will be enough for this process.

2. Connect that debit card to your PayPal account and verify it

Inside your PayPal account, go to “Wallet” -> “Add a card” and add your newly acquired virtual Bitcoin credit card.

One the card is added you will need to verify it. In order to verify the card you’ll need to have a balance of at least $3 on it so that PayPal will be able to charge you. Once PayPal charges you, you will see a 4 digit code next to that transaction on your Wirex account. That 4 digit code in the verification pin for your card on PayPal.

3. Deposit funds to your PayPal account

I’ll assume you know how to do that :)

4. Withdraw funds from your PayPal account to your Wirex account

Go to “Wallet” -> “Withdraw funds” and choose the “withdraw funds to your card” option.

Make sure to choose your Wirex card. The withdrawal can take up to 7 days to appear in your Wirex account.

5. Buy Bitcoins with your funded Wirex debit card

Now that your Wirex card has funds in it, you can use them to buy Bitcoins.

The whole process can take some time as verifying your Wirex card with PayPal takes some time and withdrawing the funds can take up to 7 business days depending on where you live.

Buy Bitcoins with PayPal through Paxful

Pros: Wide variety of sellers from around the world

Cons: High exchange rate, the chance of getting scammed

Paxful is the smaller less known version of LocalBitcoins. It’s a peer to peer marketplace that allows you to buy Bitcoins with almost anything (e.g. Skype credits, Amazon gift cards). The process of buying Bitcoins at Paxful is pretty simple:

  1. Create an account
  2. Choose a payment method for buying and the desired amount
  3. Choose your seller – You can either choose manually or let Paxful decide who is the best seller for you.

Once the trade initiates you will be sent in to an online chat with the seller where you can finalize the deal. The seller’s Bitcoins will be sent into Escrow and once you mark that you’ve sent your payment they will be released into your account. Keep in mind that if you don’t finalize the deal within a certain timeframe (usually 30 minutes) the deal will be auto-cancelled.

How to Buy Bitcoin with PayPal? The Best Methods Available

Paypal is a market leader when it comes to e-commerce and online payment services. It has been around for many years and offers its clients full security and transparency when it comes to their finances.

Quick Steps to Buy Bitcoin with Paypal

  1. Register with a bitcoin CFD provider such as eToro
  2. Or, sign up to a cryptocurrency exchange such as Coinbase or Localbitcoins
  3. Choose your payment method – Paypal
  4. Deposit funds
  5. Buy bitcoin

With bitcoin making a name for itself recently, it is not surprising that we are beginning to see Paypal and bitcoin partner up.

Whether its buying bitcoin using Paypal or sending your fiat currency back into your Paypal account, it now is a viable option.

How to Buy Bitcoin with Paypal through CFD providers

Buying bitcoin through a CFD provider offers lots of advantages. Your money is considerably safer than if it were in an exchange, this is because they are regulated by governing bodies like the Financial Conduct Authority.

Buying bitcoin as a CFD also allows you to scale in and out of a position with ease. This is because the market is more liquid and allows traders and investors to enter and exit a the price they want to get. Sometimes, with exchanges you end up taking a worse price just to get into the market in the first place.

Another, but arguably the most important reason investors flock to CFD providers is because they do not have the limit exchanges do. If you were looking to invest a serious amount of cash into bitcoin via an exchange, you would be required to go through many checks before you can buy large amounts. by contrast, it is very quick and easy to deposit large sums into a brokerage and then immediately buy bitcoin.

Below are two examples of CFD providers we recommend:

Buy Bitcoin with Paypal through eToro

Paypal as a business much prefers companies that are regulated, which is understandable. It means that those companies can be held to account and must adhere to certain guidelines. eToro and Paypal have a healthy relationship and the process of buying bitcoin with paypal is made very easy.

As shown by the picture below, all you have to do is choose ‘PayPal’ as your payment method and decide how much you want to deposit. Other payment methods include credit, debit card and bank transfer.

This also allows you to withdraw your profit very easily and very quickly. it is unlikely but if you do bump into any difficulties, the customer support team at eToro is second to none. When you look at the customer care eToro offers versus most cryptocurrency exchanges, the difference is night and day.

Most exchanges in fact barely offer any support, which is why we do recommend eToro or other regulated brokers. Regulation means these companies must adhere to certain criteria and having good customer support can be a real benefit.

Buy Bitcoin with Paypal through AVA Trade

AVA Trade is another popular CFD platform that allows you to buy bitcoin with Paypal. The process if very simple.

You must open an AVA Trade account. Click ‘Open a Real Account’.

Then you must enter your details.

Once you have created an account you must verify your identity and answer various questions for AVA Trade to certify your account. All this is for security measures to make sure your account and money is safe.

How to Buy Bitcoin with Paypal through Coinbase

Paypal and Coinbase have had a rocky relationship. When cryptocurrencies first came about, Paypal was very much involved in the purchase of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. However as there was more controversy surrounding bitcoin, including its legality and its ability to hide criminal activity, Paypal took a step back.

Currently you can only buy bitcoin with paypal instantly using Coinbase if you are a US citizen. It appears to be going well and Paypal plans to roll this out to other territories.

If you are not a US citizen, although you can link your Paypal account to Coinbase, you cannot actually buy bitcoin with Paypal, or litecoin or Ethereum for that matter. The only way you can can use Paypal is to exchange your bitcoin for a fiat currency and send it to your Paypal account.

This procedure is fairly simple, but once you have it converted back into fiat currency, it is just as easy to transfer back to your bank account.

How to Buy Bitcoin With PayPal

The act of purchasing bitcoin has become more and more convenient over the course of recent years, with a plethora of payment options popping up here and there. There is no surprise there; after all, investing in bitcoins has shown to be a very appealing and profitable endeavor. A lot of users would like to get their hands on some cryptocurrencies without going through the tedious process of setting up mining equipment, accounts on exchanges, and going through the verification processes.

Casual investors would simply like to acquire bitcoins by using payment methods that they are comfortable with, such as PayPal. However, acquiring bitcoins with PayPal can be deceptively complicated. Luckily, this post will clear up the confusion and put you on your way toward acquiring digital assets with PayPal.

It’s Not that Easy – But Possible

There are no ways through which you can buy bitcoins using PayPal directly; there simply isn’t any support for that action currently. Thankfully, though, there are some ways to work around that and there are marketplaces online that allow bitcoins to be purchased with PayPal. Sure, it’s frustrating, and many people don’t understand why this is overly complicated.

However, there are a few good reasons why bitcoins can’t be purchased directly through PayPal. One major explanation is the fact that bitcoins are a direct competition to PayPal. Bitcoins also don’t allow chargebacks, and fake or even fraudulent charges are frequent due to bitcoin accounts being constantly targeted by hackers and scammers.

The Simple Reason why it’s hard to buy Bitcoin with PayPal is, a PayPal payment is reversible; Bitcoin is not.

You would simply need to take a few extra steps to successfully acquire bitcoins with PayPal. There are exchanges out there that allow you to make such purchases; however, many of these exchanges place holds onto a user account until certain verifications are passed. It should be noted that PayPal doesn’t exactly appreciate users buying bitcoin through the platform, and it might occasionally scold users who try to do so. Thankfully, there are a few workarounds so you do not get into trouble.

Check out VirWox

You should know that the PayPal terms of service allows for the use of Second Life Lindens, or SLLs, to make bitcoin purchases. Thanks to this, several exchanges have sprung up that provide SLL services, and the best of these exchanges is VirWox. Despite this designation, it doesn’t function quite like a full-blown exchange. Instead, it’s a platform that serves the famous Second Life game as a means to purchase in-game collectibles. The game is actually big enough to be fully accepted by PayPal, and that creates a gray area for using in-game money to purchase bitcoins.

To start purchasing bitcoins through VirWox and PayPal, you first need to establish a budget for yourself, do some research pertaining to cryptocurrencies, study up on some exchanges and platforms, and set up a bitcoin wallet. Following this, you should visit VirWox and open up an account there, fill in the appropriate information boxes, and confirm your account via email. Then, you can deposit money into your VirWox account through PayPal.

After this, you will have the option of exchanging your balances for SLL, after which an option to convert SLL to bitcoins will be presented to you. Generally, VirWox will place a 10 percent transaction fee on users due to PayPal; unfortunately, the fee is inevitable. After purchasing bitcoins through VirWox, it is recommended that you transfer your bitcoins to your personal wallet. Transfers to wallets can usually take up to two days.

Other Platforms to Consider

Many other platforms and services besides VirWox have been popping up on the web, providing users with the option to purchase bitcoins through PayPal. They might not be as popular and frequently used as VirWox; yet, they are still worthwhile and great alternatives.

LocalBitcoins

LocalBitcoins is a highly reputable bitcoin exchange platform used all over the world. It provides a virtual setting through which buyers can connect with sellers and conduct their exchanges through a variety of payment platforms, including PayPal.

If you decide to utilize LocalBitcoins, you would have to find and connect with an individual who is willing to accept PayPal as a form of payment for bitcoins. LocalBitcoin users are responsible for conducting their own due diligence pertaining to the sellers that they communicate with. Generally, the platform is quite safe and reputable. Take a look at our full review of LocalBitcoins here.

Paxful is a service that allows users to create accounts, find sellers, and exchange funds in PayPal accounts for bitcoins. What’s great about Paxful is that it uses an escrow service to provide additional security for buyers. Overall, Paxful is nice; however, it has yet to have reached optimal public acceptance.

Conclusion

Despite PayPal being quite safe and trusted, as well as there being exchanges that accept payments through PayPal, it is very important that you keep your bitcoin wallet as safe as possible. Whether you store it on your personal computer, use online wallet services, or employ some kind of cold storage method, remember to never give out your private key to anybody. Nobody needs to know any information pertaining to your recovery seed or private key. After all, you don’t want anybody stealing your efforts, time, and assets!

Out of the various ways through which you can buy bitcoins using your PayPal account, it’s up to you to decide which exchange method best suits your needs and preferences. Keep in mind that in order to use PayPal for bitcoin purchases, your account must first be fully verified, meaning that you must link your bank, link your debit cards, and go through some identity verification controls.

Bitcoin is a highly volatile cryptocurrency, which can bring about great destabilization to the financial world, as well as awesome returns for investors. You now should better understand some of the ways in which you can get on the path to purchasing bitcoins with your PayPal account.

PayPal Announces First Partnerships in Bitcoin Space

PayPal has announced partnerships with three major payment processors in the bitcoin space – BitPay, Coinbase and GoCoin.

Though the online e-commerce pioneer stopped short of integrating bitcoin into its digital wallet or payment processing services directly, the move marks PayPal's first formal offering to the bitcoin community.

In a blog post penned by senior director of corporate strategy Scott Ellison, PayPal revealed that online merchants will now be able to accept bitcoin via all three companies through its PayPal Payments Hub, its product that enables customers to accept credit cards, mobile carrier payments and other payment methods through a single integration.

Ellison lauded BitPay, Coinbase and GoCoin for their commitment to ensuring consumer protections on their platforms, while suggesting that the offering will appeal to a number of its key customer groups, writing:

"We believe digital goods merchants will be excited to work with these industry-leading companies to sell ringtones, games and music and get paid with bitcoin."

Notably, the announcement follows the decision of PayPal subsidiary Braintree to partner with Coinbase earlier this month.

PayPal is available in 193 markets and 26 currencies. With 143 million active registered accounts and $6.6bn in revenue at the end of 2013, the e-commerce giant brings the potential for new users and new business to the bitcoin economy.

Embracing innovation

Ellison went on to suggest that PayPal is committed to embracing innovation, and that this has lead to its early support of bitcoin. Further, he suggested the company will be monitoring its first formal bitcoin trial to assess how it moves forward with the payment method, writing:

"We're proceeding gradually, supporting bitcoin in some ways today and holding off on other ways until we see how things develop."

PayPal cited its commitment to allowing businesses freedom of choice and promoting safer buying experiences as key reasons for its decision.

BitPay, Coinbase and GoCoin will pay a referral fee to PayPal for new business they gain through the platform, meaning their existing pricing structures will be unaffected by the move.

Support for select business models

Ellison framed the decision as the latest way PayPal is seeking to support the bitcoin ecosystem, pointing to its past efforts to help companies in the bitcoin mining space accept PayPal for their products.

However, Ellison suggested that PayPal is conscious of the controversies that have dominated this segment of the bitcoin industry, and that its support will continue for merchants that meet certain criteria, writing:

"To safeguard customers, we've decided not to work with merchants who pre-sell these products. This is consistent with our approach to pre-sales of other goods; we hold off anytime we determine that pre-selling may not provide a good buyer experience."

In recent months, a number of bitcoin mining companies, including early and current market leaders such as Butterfly Labs and CoinTerra have faced lawsuits from customers for failing to deliver equipment on advertised timelines.

Addressing security concerns

In his statements, Ellison also suggested that PayPal has been monitoring conversation surrounding how bitcoin will be regulated, clarifying that PayPal will only seek to work with bitcoin companies that offer certain consumer protections.

Reitterating that PayPal needs to follow local laws and regulations in every market it serves, Eillson wrote:

"For this reason, virtual currency exchangers and administrators interested in working with PayPal in the future must secure the appropriate licenses and put anti-money laundering procedures in place."

PayPal also stated that while other cryptocurrencies have been available for some time "only bitcoin has achieved significant scale" in the payments space to date.

Repair the Yahoo Search App.

Yahoo Search App from the Google Play Store on my Samsung Galaxy S8+ phone stopped working on May 18, 2018.

I went to the Yahoo Troubleshooting page but the article that said to do a certain 8 steps to fix the problem with Yahoo Services not working and how to fix the problem. Of course they didn't work.

I contacted Samsung thru their Samsung Tutor app on my phone. I gave their Technican access to my phone to see if there was a problem with my phone that stopped the Yahoo Search App from working. He went to Yahoo and I signed in so he could try to fix the Yahoo Search App not working. He also used another phone, installed the app from the Google Play Store to see if the app would do any kind of search thru the app. The Yahoo Search App just wasn't working.

I also had At&t try to help me because I have UVERSE for my internet service. My internet was working perfectly. Their Technical Support team member checked the Yahoo Search App and it wouldn't work for him either.

We can go to www.yahoo.com and search for any topic or website. It's just the Yahoo Search App that won't allow anyone to do web searches at all.

I let Google know that the Yahoo Search App installed from their Google Play Store had completely stopped working on May 18, 2018.

I told them that Yahoo has made sure that their Yahoo members can't contact them about anything.

I noticed that right after I accepted the agreement that said Oath had joined with Verizon I started having the problem with the Yahoo Search App.
No matter what I search for or website thru the Yahoo Search App it says the following after I searched for
www.att.com.

WEBPAGE NOT AVAILABLE

could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

I tried to search for things like www.homedepot.com. The same thing happened. It would say WEBPAGE NOT AVAILABLE. The only thing that changed were all the upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.
Then it would again say
could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED

This is the same thing that happened when Samsung and At&t tried to do any kind of searches thru the Yahoo Search App.
